Hookah use has exploded among teens and young adults in recent years, as have the number of hookah lounges in the county. Hookah smokers commonly regard hookah use as benign, despite the fact that hookah tobacco contains high levels of nicotine and other harmful substances. Plus, many of the hookah lounges are operating in a questionable area of the law.
In order to address this alarming trend, data is needed regarding hookah lounges–where the smoking is taking place (inside or outside), whether food and beverages are being served, and whether ID’s of clients are being checked.
Please give Lisa Archibald a call or email and let her know you would like to help conduct observations of hookah lounges. firstname.lastname@example.org or 619-683-7514. Thank you!
